SIGHTS: VISUAL DOCUMENTATION OF THE JAPANESE UNDERGROUND

The Japanese underground is more than an auditory experience; it is a culture defined by its visual identity. Our mission is to provide comprehensive visual documentation that captures the raw, unfiltered energy of this scene. Through photography and video, we preserve the passion, style, and community that thrive in the shadow of the mainstream.

OUR MISSION:

PRESERVING THE SCENE

Despite its cultural significance, there is a void of dedicated visual documentation of the Japanese underground. This absence not only risks the loss of a vital cultural narrative but also obscures the scene from a global audience. Kaala bridges this gap. We produce and promote content that chronicles this culture, collaborating with artists and creators to ensure the fervor of the Japanese underground is not lost to time.

OUR VISUAL CONTENT

We focus on capturing the live experience in its most authentic form. Our visual documentation prioritizes the energy of the moment, whether through still photography or motion pictures.

CONCERT VIDEOGRAPHY

Our video work is a direct portal into the live scene. While we previously produced long-form documentaries, our current focus is on short-form content that captures the immediate intensity of a performance. We still produce featurettes for select events and artists, but our priority is delivering the visceral experience of being there.

INSTAGRAM

Insta’s a funny one for us at the moment as it’s more a promotional platform for flyers of upcoming shows, our newsletter releases, our own events, and that kind of thing, though we certainly populate it with gig photos too.

COLLABORATE WITH US

We are always seeking to collaborate with photographers, videographers, and artists who are actively documenting the Japanese underground. If you are creating work that aligns with our mission, we want to see it.
